FDCA members after January 20, 2015, meeting with Attorney General Karl Racine: (l to r) Bill Rice, retired DC employee; Fynnette Eaton, Eaton Consulting; Andrew Cassidy-Amstutz, Library of Congress and DC Caucus Chair, Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference; Karl Racine; and Trudy Peterson, Archival Consultant and former Acting Archivist of the United States
2016 is an critical year for the Office of Public Records. During the previous year, the architectural team selected to design the new facility for the DC Archives -- Hartman & Cox and EYP -- completed a programming report that laid out the basic requirements for the new building. It established that a building dedicated to the special structural needs of the D.C. Archives was the least expensive and most efficient means of constructing a new building.  FDCA will continue to advocate for a new facility that will enable the Office of Public Records to fulfill its functions, but we also will be asking for staffing to implement a records management program, compile inventories of records, and assist with basic reference.
