It is with deep sadness that the Friends of DC Archives reports that Clarence Davis, retired Public Records Administrator of the District of Columbia, passed away on June 15, 2016. Over the years, he cheerfully assisted countless researchers as they tried to navigate the records held within the D.C. Archives, established relationships with city officials to improve records management practices, and energetically advocated for a refurbished 1300 Naylor Court and new facilities for the Office of Public Records. Among his friends, he is remembered for his humor, his passion for historical inquiry, his love of his adopted home, Washington, D.C., and his suits, worn every single day, no matter the occasion.
